The purpose of the study is to test a program that aims to help staff increase wellness behaviors and test the impact of this program on staff and work outcomes. We will also assess the impact of the program on residents' physical activity and function.
The Worksite Heart Health Improvement Project + Function Focused Care (WHIPP+FFC) is an innovative worksite wellness program to reduce sedentary behavior for staff and residents in assisted living. The WHHIP + FFC uses the social ecological model and theory of self-efficacy to provide interventions across multiple levels (interpersonal, intrapersonal, organizational and policy) that reduce barriers for physical activity engagement in assisted living communities. Staff Inclusion Criteria: * 18 years of age or older * employed by the assisted living community in a direct care role for at least 9 months * not pregnant * speak and understand English Staff Exclusion Criteria: * do not pass the Evaluation to Sign Consent test * do not pass the EASY exercise safety screener Resident Inclusion Criteria: * 55 years of age or older * speak and understand English * live in the participating assisting living community at the time of recruitment Resident Exclusion Criteria: * N/A
