What flows where
Verification uses a standard OAuth 2.0 flow with PKCE. At no point does Arctuva see your raw identity documents.
- 1You initiate verification from Arctuva. We redirect you to Avarithim with a PKCE challenge.
- 2You authenticate with Avarithim using whatever credentials you've previously set up there.
- 3Avarithim returns minimal verified attributes to Arctuva:
avarithim_id, verified email, and verified phone — nothing more. - 4Arctuva stores the verification status, not the underlying identity documents.
- 5An encrypted refresh token lets us re-confirm your verification later without sending you back through Avarithim every time.
The Tier 4 unlock
Study coordinators want confidence that the person on the screening call is who they say they are. Avarithim verification gives them that signal in seconds — so they’re willing to surface higher-compensation studies to verified participants.
Higher trust on their end means faster scheduling, fewer screen-fails, and access to studies that would otherwise require in-person identity checks.
What Arctuva sees, and what it doesn’t
What Arctuva receives
A stable identifier, your verified email and phone, and a flag indicating verification succeeded.
What Arctuva does NOT receive
Raw identity documents, biometric data, or any verification artifacts Avarithim used to confirm your identity.
Who can read your verification status
Only you and the study coordinators for studies you apply to. Arctuva staff access requires an audit-logged service role.
