Tear fluid will be collected from patients diagnosed with ocular trauma at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to evaluate biomarkers.
Prospective, controlled, single-site, clinical trial evaluating tear fluid biomarkers in patients diagnosed with eye trauma at the University of Pittsburgh.
Inclusion Criteria: * Minimum age of 18 years. * Diagnosis of visually significant cataract and scheduled for routine cataract surgery at UPMC with a clear corneal incision or * scheduled for clinical repair of a full-thickness corneal laceration. Exclusion Criteria: * Prior history of full-thickness corneal laceration from trauma or from a surgical procedure * Current diagnosis of glaucoma or use of ocular hypotensive drops or oral aqueous suppressants. * Actively being treated for the diagnosis of dry eyes with a topical drop other than artificial tears. * Actively taking oral or topical…
